Asia Argento was born in Rome, Italy, into the family of actors as well as filmmakers. Both are careers she herself has taken up. The Phantom of the Opera will be her third film with her Father, which includes Trauma & The Stendhal Syndrome. Asia's focused and intense style of acting has also been used by Giuseppe Piccioni in Condannato a nozze. Patrice Chereau directed Queen Margot in the film, and she had the role of a physically disabled girl in that film. Her next collaboration was with Michel Piccoli on Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion in 1995, earning her another David di Donatello as in addition to a Grolla D'oro. Asia began directing short films around 1994. She made two: Prospettive in 1996. She produced a documentary on her father; and Abel/Asia in 1998, about the legendary director Abel Ferrara. This latter was recognized at the Rome Film Festival. In 1999, Asia was the first to direct a feature film with Scarlet Diva (2000), in which she was the leading actress and author of the screenplay. The movie came out on the 20th of May, 2000, in Italy along with the rest of world. In Brooklyn, New York it was awarded an award at the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou was her first born daughter in 2001. After having directed a number of music videos, she welcomed Anna Lou. In 2002, she was in The Red Siren directed by Olivier Megaton and starred alongside Jean-Marc Barr. Rob Cohen also directed the action thriller together with Vin Diesel. Asia is the writer of several short stories, that have been published in a variety of magazines.
